If something is broken right now
Call the clinic. A loose bracket, a wire poking the cheek or a lost separator is common and rarely an emergency, but it should not be left for weeks — a wire that is not doing its job is time added to your treatment. Most of these are sorted in a short appointment.
If a poking wire cannot wait for an appointment, a pencil eraser can push the end flat against the tooth and orthodontic wax over the bracket will settle the tissue until you are seen.
Referring a patient
General dentists are welcome to call the clinic directly or send records ahead of a consultation. Patients being watched rather than treated are returned to your recall with a written note on what we are monitoring and the expected timing.
